2011 Reunion

After fiddling for a long time with the idea of a reunion party for all the fine folks I worked with over the years, we decided to throw a big party on Sept. 17th, 2011. Having been retired from Tempest since the end of 2002 (It doesn't seem possible!), it took some effort to assemble contact information for everyone. But that in itself was a fun task. There were folks from the old FNBD days ('69-'74), the CNB and CCA tenure ('75-'92), as well as compatriots from Tempest ('93-2002). The party was grand fun. Many folks attending hadn't seen each other in 20+ years. How very cool. One great regret was that not everyone who attended made it into the gallery of photos, for which I apologize. Just got busy talking and goofed. Also, there were a number of people who simply couldn't be there due to prior commitments (silly little things like previously planned trips out of the country, etc.). Boo-hiss, they missed a great time. But many thanks to all who were able to attend. I can't tell you what a treat it was to see everyone.

  • Also helping us host the evening was Kirsten Alder. She's Scott's (our oldest son) wife. They both live in Steamboat (Oak Creek, actually). Scott works for the mountain and Kirsten is a wine distributor serving the Yampa Valley. Knows her stuff! We have her to thank for the great wine selection. (Had to cheat on their picture. Didn't get this picture the night of the Reunion. Rather, it was taken a last year's birthday party for Diane, also held at "the shop.")
  • A crowd shot. But it's the only picture of four of our guests--Ken and Janet Penland and Larry Detrich and Kay Kelly. They all lived at the same condo complex on Pearl Street back in the 1970s. They also jointly owned a place in Vail for several years in the 1980s. For some reason the photographer (that would be me) didn't get good pics of any of them. Duh!
  • On left is Lucy Barnett's escort who's name we also failed to get. Lucy is surrounded by Mary Helen Stultz and her husband Greg. They came early, left for another fancy event (thus the fancy clothes) and then returned later to help us wind down the party. I'll swear, these folks haven't changed a lick.
  • Damn. Looks like Jack is renewing a lot of old relationships. Don't ask! We were so glad that Scott "Scooter" Chambers was able to come up from El Paso where he now lives. Get him to tell you that story.
  • Amy Marjerison (Trujillo back when she worked with us at CNB/CCA), Mickey Cantu (Abeyta back then), and Joyce Desmond (Tubergen) reminiscing about the good old days at CNB/CCA. Barely visible behind them is Andy Antipas, his wife Victoria, and their son James. Andy and his family are dear racing friends of ours.
  • Looking the part of a gentlemen rancher, Nelson Cole (center). Clark Lofthouse on right chats with Nelson's son-in-law Eric. Clark worked with all the institutional firms over the years in his capacity as a broker at a number of different firms over the years. He has become a good friend.
  • Now here's trouble. Bud Cosby and his wife Inga surround Rick Swain and Jim Desmond. Jim met is wife, Joyce while working in the old CNB Trust Investment group. They now live in Florida and came up especially for this party, winning the trophy for furthest traveled. No wait, there wasn't a trophy. Well, if there had been one, they would have won.
  • Fran Taylor and Sara Swain go way back to the old CNB days. Sara went on the a nice career at the Colorado State Bank.
  • Some of the old Tempest crowd. Sharron Gaare chats it up with Giles Fox, David Lansdowne and Greg Thompson hit the beer buckets.

  • Art Ammann and Jack Adams renew their old relationship at CNB/CCA as Art's wife, Susan, looks on. Will Johnson is in the background.
  • In front is Sharon Adams, Jack's wife, Susan and Art Ammann (probably commenting on how good the ribs tasted) with Will and Marcia Johnson behind them.
  • Now we're into some of the FNBD crowd. Suzie Quam and Jim McNerny (No, not "Nerdy". He was a really cool guy.)
  • Joanne Nearents and Caleb Gates look over the book presented to him when he retired. Sure wish I'd had a chance to review it. Very cool stuff, no doubt.
  • My sister, Norma Kovacs. Or, as the self-made name tags says, "Bob's much younger sister. Also smarter and better looking and more talented." Well, three out of four ain't bad.
  • Another nice crowd shot as things really got going. Sidney Gates and Inga Cosby are inspecting the great wines selected by our daughter-in-law who distributes wines in the Yampa Valley where she and our son Scott live and work.
  • Jay Barr, Holland Duell, Jackie & Dick Allen. All FNBDers from the early 1970s.
  • These guys had more fun reliving old times. Jack Adams and Scott Chambers. Thanks Scott for coming all the way from El Paso for the party.
